Hi there

I’m Lisa Bryson the ‘Picture Taker’ behind Offbeat Pictures. I’m based in beautiful East Lothian but happy to travel outwith.

Upon hearing the words ‘Let’s go round the room & talk about ourselves’ I’d possibly rather swim with sharks so I will keep this brief!

In the years BC – before children – I worked as a stylist. Organising locations, models, sets, props for anything and everything but mainly marketing/advertising campaigns. So my experience in photography really began there. Understanding lighting, attention to the tiniest detail and how a shot could look overall.

I was also hugely into cinematography. Loved how a simply shot film could be as effective as a no expense spared production. It all came down to the individual frames. What was in them – location, colour palette, details, light – before any words were spoken – what caught your attention, drew you in.

I finally picked up a camera a few years ago and started with pictures of my daughter. Soon people were asking if I would shoot their children and it’s grown from there. From portraits, events, products shots through to urbex and parkour. I’m happy to give anything a go so please just ask!

My aim goes back to the film still concept and to capture a moment in it’s entirety in a very relaxed way!
